A good portion of the game would need to be on the Bridge, directing combat, interacting with alien ships and charting your course through space. Of course, unlike Mass Effect, the game would need to focus much more on what went on aboard the ship itself. Some RPG elements for the characters and ship could allow room to upgrade, customize and so forth. You'd fly from this planet to that and land on planets to explore, all while following some bigger story. You'd have your crew and various other NPCs you'd gather to you as explored the final frontier. You'd have your own Enterprise-style ship, much like Shepard had the Normandy. Since it's Star Trek it might have to be a little more family friendly, but beyond that it's a match made in heaven. Mass Effect is basically the perfect blueprint for a full-fledged Star Trek RPG. It would take place both in space and on land. I like that better than simply choosing between the honorable and the wicked sides of the coin anyways. The hard part would be in determining, perhaps, the lesser of two evils. Other games in the past have used some form of "morality" meter, but I think in keeping with the ethos of Star Trek, you'd mostly have to stick to "good" choices. ![]()
